The importance of taking time for yourself

With the second week of confinement over, the third begins and, let's face it, it's starting to get tough. There are days when morale is high and positive, and others when it's in the doldrums. This is perfectly normal, which is why it's so important to take breaks. Moments of (real) relaxation when, for a while, nothing else exists but yourself (without the kids).

With this in mind, we've come up with the #selfcareMS campaign. For those who haven't seen it on Instagram, it's easy to follow:

  1. I enjoy a moment of relaxation all to myself.
  2. I immortalize it in photo or video with #selfcareMS and tag @motherstories in post or Instagram story.
  3. I nominate 3 friends who could really use it.

Here, to date, are a few ideas for relaxation from our moms:

  • A yoga session
  • A bath
  • A walk with your dog
  • A coffee in the sun on your terrace or in your garden
  • A meditation
  • A good book
  • A glass of wine
  • A beauty mask
  • A brushing(...)

To achieve this, plan and fix a time slot in the week with your partner where he or she will take care of the children, household chores and homework. It's important that this is a time just for you, without having to worry about the rest.

If this isn't possible, take this time during the children's nap. If they're old enough, explain that you'll need 20min, 30min, 1h to rest and settle them comfortably on the sofa with a story or in front of a film. Don't worry, it's okay, don't feel guilty! Recharging your batteries will give you more energy to deal with them after your #selfcareMS moment.

As you can see, our message this week is: THINK ABOUT YOURSELF, because no one else will do it for you. It doesn't matter how long you meditate... A 10-minute meditation can be enough to recharge your batteries.

We're thinking of you.
